A Taste of Tradition: Tea Ceremony at Hip Hues

At Hip Hues, we bring people together — whether it’s through live screen printing, leather stamping, or custom hat bars. But recently, our team gathered for something a little different. Our co-founder, Tracy Dunn, introduced us to the beauty of a traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony, right in our Nashville studio. It was an unforgettable experience of culture, connection, and calm.

A Month in Taiwan: Learning the Art of Tea

Tracy spent a transformative month working on a tea farm in Taiwan, immersing herself in the fields learning to grow, pick, and process tea, as well as the art of tea ceremonies. In large parts of Asia, tea is more than just a beverage — it’s a practice woven into daily life. From the choice of leaves to the precise movements of pouring and serving, every step is intentional, reflecting centuries of tradition.

Tracy wanted to share this experience with our Hip Hues operations team as a meaningful way to pause, reflect, and bond.

Setting the Scene

When we walked into the studio that day, it was like stepping into a serene corner of Asia. Tracy had meticulously arranged a traditional tea table with beautiful teaware, delicate porcelain cups, and fragrant loose-leaf teas. The ambiance was calm, with soft music playing and the comforting aroma of steeped tea leaves filling the space.

Each team member took a seat, curious and excited. Tracy began by explaining the cultural significance of each step — from the ceremonial cleansing of the teaware to the art of pouring the tea in graceful, circular motions. Every step was about intention, mindfulness, and respect.

More Than Tea: A Bonding Experience

This wasn’t just about tea. It was about slowing down, savoring the moment, and connecting with one another in a way we rarely get to during our busy workdays. It reminded us how intentional experiences can strengthen our bonds — something we strive to offer our clients at every Hip Hues event.

The tea ceremony brought a sense of calm and appreciation that lingered long after the last sip.

Bringing Tradition to Life

At Hip Hues, we believe that memorable experiences are what bring people together. Tracy’s tea ceremony reminded us how powerful those moments can be — just like our live event activations. Whether we’re printing custom tees or stamping leather goods, we care about creating connections and lasting memories.

We’re so grateful to Tracy for sharing this beautiful tradition with us. Here’s to many more moments of mindfulness, laughter, and togetherness — both in and out of the studio.
